Algarve Beaches

While the pool is great, it would be a shame to miss out on the fantastic beaches all around you, here are our favs:
Benegil Beach - This is our local beach which is a nice horseshoe shaped beach popular with the holidaying Portuguese who know their beaches. It has nice restuarants for lunch and dinner, producing good value local food, the fish will more than likely come from the benegil fishermen who land their catch early in the morning. If you wake up early, or get back home late, you can have a coffee and watch them come in with their catch just after 6am.

Marinha Beach - This is the next large beach along, don't be put off by all those steps to get down to the beach since it has fantastic views of all those floating rock islands, and a great local beach cafe.

Rui is the proud owner of "RUI Marisqueira" in Silves which he opened 26 years ago. Today Rui is well known through out the Algarve for its excellent fresh fish and live shellfish. Situated in the historic and picturesque town of Silves this is always a must visit place for us, the hammering of gavels and wooden blocks is nothing to do with courtrooms, its people cracking into fresh crab. The local toasted rolls with a plate of chef-made garlic mayo is to die for!

O Sueste Restaurant - Rua da Ribeira 91, Ferragudo. Tel: 282 461 592

Some say this is the best fish restaurant in Ferragudo, and they may be right. It serves excellent fresh fish cooked on the quay. It is located on the quay, with great views across the Arada to Portimão, so you can enoy a glorious sunset with your dinner. Amadeus the owner gets up early to go to the large Portimão fish market to get in the best fish, if you ask nicely he may even take you out for a boat trip, where you fish for your lunch and he cooks it onbaord! It is open daily for lunch and dinner, but is closed on Mondays.

Golf
Would you believe it, but alot of people come to the Algarve to play golf?
Our nearest course is Vale de Milho. This is a short course with nine holes, all of them par 3, designed by David Thomas. It's visually a very attractive course, with waterfalls and wonderful views over the sea. So, if you want to enjoy yourself, practice your short iron shots and at the same time take in the beautiful and relaxing landscape, Vale de Milho will not disappoint you.
